| The singers from Counterpoint Arts, who usually sing more ‘classical’ music, entertained enthusiastic audiences in a very different tradition in May. There was a run on charity shops, hiring agencies and drama societies’ props to find authentic dress. The men in the cast grew real beards to get into character. The audiences arrived in impressive Victorian dress sporting amazing hats. As well as the songs, we were treated to ‘The Strong Men’ comedy act and a young juggler. The Master of Ceremonies was Bill Martin, Chairman of Counterpoint Arts who conducted the proceedings expertly, using traditional introductions and continuity with panache and humour. |
